Even though the price of copper has fallen off of it’s recent highs problems with copper theft persists. Are you protecting your equipment? It’s something to consider, especially if you have recently installed new equipment in an economically depressed county such as Riverside, San Bernardino, or Imperial. Some customers have asked us to install alarm systems which trigger upon attempted theft of the unit but we found a more cost effective deterrent is simply to scare the potential thief. Install a cage to slow them down and/or post signs saying that they are being watched by surveillance cameras, even if they are not! Why spend significant money on an expensive surveillance system when 95% of the time a posted sign will do the same job. These aren’t jewel thieves after all. Stealing copper is petty theft and criminals, upon seeing your deterrent, will move on to the next location in the hopes of finding an easier job.
